2 FALL 2016
Letter from the Credentialing
Greetings, and welcome to the Fall 2016 edition of PD;Update!
The athletic training profession is growing and evolving. As Athletic Trainers take on exciting
challenges in settings new and familiar, the educators charged with preparing candidates
for the professional world must themselves remain current on issues affecting aspiring and
current ATC© credential holders. Please help us keep all educators informed by sharing PD
Update with Clinical Coordinators and Preceptors.
With this issue of PD;Update, the BOC shares tips, news and other features to help you
prepare your students to become BOC Certified Athletic Trainers. For example, be sure to
see an update from CAATE on how exam results are now displayed in eAccreditation, and
please review our article on common misunderstandings about the BOC emergency cardiac
care (ECC) requirement.
Finally, don’t miss this issue’s featured Program Directors. sara Brown of Boston University
and Karyn Gentile of Baldwin Wallace University share a few insights and tips gleaned from
their experience leading Athletic Training Programs.
Other topics include:
•;Exam survey results
•;Electronic certification verification
•;Changes in language accommodation
As always, our website is a helpful first stop for Program Directors and candidates who are
seeking information about the BOC exam and credential. Please also feel free to contact me at
stacyA@bocatc.org or (877) 262-3926 ext. 113 if you have comments, questions or concerns
about the exam or suggestions on how we can improve PD;Update and BOC services.
